Eye on the Arts - D. Lammie-Hanson

lakeshorepublicmedia
Season 9 | Episode 01
Producer: Tom Duncan

D. Lammie-Hanson has mastered an ancient artform known as silverpoint or metapoint. Although the technique dates back to the 15th century, she depicts modern people, places and the community she grew up in. Through metalpoint she shows her subjects in elegance, as if they are as precious as the metals the art is made from.

The default color of paper is white, and when making a sketch with pen or ink that white ground is a given. The situation is different for metalpoint artists, who must first prepare the surface on which to create their composition.
